What to expect when you come to Hamilton Baptist Church on a Sunday Morning...

Our Sunday morning service starts at 10.45am. There is no dress code - whatever you are comfortable with. As you will see from the photograph, our main entrance is at the top of a few steps.  There is a disabled access lift at the top of the path on the right (see pictures below).  When you arrive at the main entrance you will be met and welcomed by someone from our team of stewards and deacons. They will say Hi and give you a 'What’s On' Bulletin. If you'd like to, please let them know if you are new to HBC - they'll be happy to introduce you to someone and help make you feel comfortable. If you have any children, please ask them to point out the crèche facility or the facilities for Junior Church (age 3 to 11) and the Two Ways Group (which is for everyone in Secondary School).

When you enter the main building, please sit where you like - there are no 'reserved' seats.
The service starts at 10.45 with a welcome, contemporary worship music and prayer. We sing a variety of newer worship songs and some of the classic hymns. There are hymn books (including some with large type) and bibles in the pews – however the words of the hymns/songs and scripture readings will be projected by PowerPoint. Everyone (kids, teenagers and adults) is together in the main sanctuary for this part of the service. We will then have some notices and usually a kids talk to follow. The young kids are generally invited to come to the front near the front for the kids talk or a song. Please feel free to keep your kids with you at this point if they are not comfortable going to the front.

The crèche facility is available in the committee room at the rear of the church from the start of the service. Part way through the service, we invite the children and teenagers to leave the main sanctuary to go to Junior Church and the Two Ways Group. Each have their own facilities. Please ask any of the stewards for directions. Our clubs are staffed by church volunteers who all have Disclosure Scotland clearance, and are accountable to our church leadership.

The remaining part of the service will involve worship music and biblical teaching.  The service usually finishes around 12 noon and is followed by a short communion service (except on the third Sunday of each month, when the communion is held either during or following the evening service).

The service on the third Sunday of each month is usually a family service and is followed by coffee, tea, etc served in the halls behind the main church building.  Please stay for a cuppa and a chat - we'd love to get to know you. The on-street parking in the area around the church is free until 1pm on Sundays.

When you come to HBC on a Sunday Evening...

Our Sunday evening service starts at 6.30pm. Again, you'll be welcomed at the entrance. There are no crèche or kids club facilities during the evening service, but please feel free to bring your children to this service - they are very welcome and usually there is an activity pack which relates to the service available for them to complete. The comments above on dress code (i.e. we don't have one), and seating arrangements (i.e. sit where you like) are the same for both services.
The service will start with a welcome, some prayers, and quite a lot of contemporary worship music. The teaching will again be biblical and contemporary and usually follows a different theme or bible book from the morning service. The service usually finishes around 7.30pm.
